Installtion need help

I'm using DEV C++ and FLTK for my project.
  Now, I'd like to add SPTK to connect the MS Access database.
  When I read the Documentation page in SPTK web site, I found that aspell-dev and SPTK are needed to install.
  But what I want to know is aspell-dev is really needed to install or can i skip it? Because it said after installation, copy the include and lib folder into DEV C++ directory and I afraid that it will overwrite my previous setting for FTLK and project.
  Please give me your kind suggestion.
